Calgary - The Alberta Continuing Care Association (ACCA) welcomes the Government of Alberta’s announcement today of $68.5 million in new one-time funding for continuing care providers and caregivers who support vulnerable seniors.
The funding, which includes $9.6 million for home care and $48 million for non-contracted licensed supportive living, will help operators pay for increased staffing, additional cleaning supplies and personal protective equipment.
“Throughout the pandemic, continuing care providers have incurred extraordinary costs as they vigilantly take every precaution and follow protocols and CMOH orders to keep residents safe. The COVID-19 funding announced today provides much-needed support for providers. The ACCA welcomes the allocation of funds to home care operators who provide important supports while still enabling Albertans to live in their homes,” says Wayne Morishita, Executive Director, ACCA.
