The ACCA Awards of Excellence celebrate outstanding individuals and organizations in Alberta's continuing care sector who are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for those they serve. These awards shine a spotlight on compassion, innovation, and excellence, recognizing those who go above and beyond in their roles.

Award Categories

Alberta Care Provider of the Year Award

This award honours front-line care providers who demonstrate exemplary client care through their unwavering commitment to quality, compassion, and excellence. These individuals enrich the lives of their clients by consistently exceeding expectations. 

  • Specific examples are required to support how the care provider has demonstrated exemplary client care, which must illustrate care beyond normal, day-to-day interactions and expectations.
  • Documentation to support the care provider's eligibility is encouraged (e.g., photos, videos, comment cards, accolades, supervisor recognition).

Alberta Volunteer of the Year Award

This award recognizes volunteers in the continuing care sector who have demonstrated exemplary client care through a commitment to quality, compassion, and excellence.

  • Specific examples are required to support how the volunteer has demonstrated exemplary client care.
  • Documentation to support the care provider's eligibility is encouraged (e.g., photos, videos, comment cards, accolades, supervisor recognition). 

Lifetime Achievement Award

This prestigious award honours individuals who have demonstrated exemplary client care and/or a commitment to quality, compassion, excellence, and enriching clients' lives over the course of more than 10 years in the continuing care sector. This award is open to individuals from any role in the sector. The nominee does not need to be a front-line worker or an ACCA member. 

  • Specific examples are required to show how the individual has demonstrated a commitment to supporting the continuing care sector. 

Innovator of the Year Award

This award celebrates organizations, or individuals, who have demonstrated an innovation they have developed, or introduced within the sector, to improve the quality of care delivered. 

  • Provide detailed information regarding how the innovation can be attributed to the nominee.
  • The innovation can be described as something new that has not been attempted or implemented before, either at a particular site or with an individual. 
  • Nominees should be able to describe how they challenge the status quo in some way.

Make a Nomination

All applications must be received by July 31, 2025.

Finalists will be required to sign an image release form, permitting the ACCA to use their photo and award-related information for promotional purposes.

Awards Gala

Winners will be announced and celebrated at the ACCA Awards of Excellence Gala in Edmonton on October 15, 2025. Join us in recognizing the inspiring achievements of Alberta’s continuing care champions!
