ACCA Media Release: Rapid Testing Announcement
Feb 09, 2021Calgary - The Alberta Continuing Care Association (ACCA) welcomes the good news that the province is expanding the rapid testing program to include long term care and designated supportive living providers in Alberta for the routine testing of asymptomatic staff.
The routine testing of asymptomatic staff is one more layer of protection in the fight to keep COVID out of continuing care homes.
“We welcome having an additional tool in our toolkit to reduce the spread of COVID into continuing care homes and to protect our residents and those who care for them. We are awaiting information from AHS on how this will be deployed,” says Wayne Morishita, Executive Director, ACCA.
The ACCA looks forward to continuing to collaborate with the provincial government, Alberta Health Services and Alberta Health in taking this next step to protect vulnerable Albertans.
