Other dignitaries included Edmonton City Councillor and Deputy Mayor Ed Gibbons, NorQuest College President and CEO Dr. Wayned Shillington and Board of Governors community member Linda Mabbott. In 2008, the government's Health Workforce Plan mandated an annual increase in the number of practical nurses educated in Alberta to 1,000 by 2012.
